What’s Your Facial Frequency? People often ask me how often they should book a facial. The answer to that questions depends on your skin type and conditions, your goals for your skin, how committed you are to a really good home skin care routine and your budget. Here are some guidelines that will help you decide what’s right for you: If you are under 40 and have great skin that functions well, congratulations!  You can pretty much do whatever you want.  I suggest you come in for a facial at least twice a year – in the spring and fall for a professional level exfoliation, deep cleanse and hydration treatment. Have Renee review your daily skin care routine to make sure your skin is getting what it needs. Wear sunscreen daily to keep your skin fabulous! If you are over 40 and have had great skin in the past, but now it is starting to show fine lines and wrinkles, your first step would be to review your daily skin care routine with Renee.  Peptides, anti-oxidants, hydrators and high performance cell communicating ingredients really make a difference if they are used daily. Getting facials at regular intervals will keep your skin looking great and help to preserve the underlying tissues as long as possible.  I suggest at least four times a year – with the changing of the seasons. Monthly facials would be ideal but if you must prioritize, then choose good professional strength products. What if you have problem skin?  This needs to be addressed on a case by case basis. Some clients’ problems come from using poor quality products, or the wrong products on their skin.  Other issues are systemic and should be addressed by a nutritionist, naturopath, acupuncturist or medical doctor.  Either way, regular facials and excellent products can get the skin working properly externally while you fix whatever is happening on the inside. If you are over 50 and would like to start taking care of you skin, congratulations!  It’s never too late! Again, how often you need to come in is completely individual. Do you want significant improvement or would you just like to deep cleanse and maintain the status quo? To be able to effect any significant improvement to aging skin you will need to come in more often at first and then taper down to once a month. Education is key!  Learn about your skin type and conditions.  Let Renee know what you would like to achieve so she can devise a plan that fits your wishes and your budget.
